The hike is a convenient accessible family-friendly hike situated by the outdoor area suitable for family picnics and a brief winding walk will find the trails snaking around Sasamat Lake in Belcarra Park a peaceful respite quite near the city. It is situated near Port Moody with several food options such as Pajo's Fish & Chips.
During the long weekend, it is very packed so definitely arrive early so you can find a parking spot near the lake or along the road 15 minutes away from the lake.
The trail is around 8km of a round trip with 100m elevation gain and takes around 3 hours to complete.
Right near the front of the trail is a floatwalk where you can launch different floaties. Pretty epic seeing everyone floating around in that area.
When you reach the other side of the lake, continue along the trail back towards the White Pine Beach vicinity. The trail then leads you to the beach area and you will have completed the Sasamat Lake loop.
A sunny summer day provides a good chance for a nice lake dip or a relaxing picnic on the sandy and crowded beach. Definitely bring several floaties along as you will want to enjoy the cool waters of the lake :P
