Tofino: Day 1!

Tip #1: Bring your GPS so you can make your way around (besides an iPhone with Google Map directions) as there is poor reception on the island.

Day 1 in Tofino was really foggy, but it introduced a different perspective of the beach. Tofino is famous for its stunning and seemingly endless beaches, and the fog definitely added an element of mystique and an entirely different landscape.

STOP #1: CHESTERMAN BEACH

Cold and foggy when we visited, Chesterman Beach nonetheless held its own mysterious exquisiteness. If you are looking for serenity, this is it. Walk for miles on wet sand and enjoy the vast allure of Chesterman Beach.  Parking is free & this is known as a favorite spot for surfers ;)

STOP #2: COX BAY BEACH

Located just south of Chesterman Beach, nearly 1.5km long and facing wide open to the west, this is probably one of the most popular beaches for surfers. Stay tuned for more deets later on regarding a hike in the area (on a sunnier day)!

STOP #3: TACOFINO (THE #OG TACO PLACE!)

So glad we visited the #OGtacotruck in this beachside surf town which was originated from the back of a surf shop parking lot in Tofino and has expanded to various locations in Vancouver.

STOP #4: LONG BEACH

Clearly distinctive as the longest sand beach on the west coast of Vancouver Island, just strolling along this beach inspires beauty. Surfers, kayakers, swimmers, curious dippers, sand castle builders, thinkers and frisbee throwers are all welcome. I imagine sunset watching  would be a surreal experience too.

STOP #5: CRYSTAL COVE

We chanced upon several really interesting beachfront cabins right by Crystal Cove which are regularly booked out early, so you should definitely book them early ie a few months in advance.

Crystal Cove is a pretty rugged location to appreciate the wild beauty of Tofino.
