STOP #1: BLACK BEAR 2.5H KAYAKING TOUR
Tip #1: Book your tour online in advance and check in with your guide beforehand. It might have to be rescheduled due to wind conditions.
Tip #2: Bring your camera for some great shots. The kayaking company provides a waterproof bag which can be securely attached to the kayak so you don't have to worry about your camera getting wet. You will be able to get several shots at certain "break points".
Of course, we couldn't leave Tofino without a kayaking adventure out in the open waters.
After some research, we opted to go with Black Bear Kayaking Adventure Tours. They are flexible and offer daily 2.5hr, 4hr, 6hr or 8+hr kayaking trips to suit your preferences and schedule.
Before leaving from the dock, your certified and knowledgeable guide will orientate you with a brief introduction to paddling and the environment.
Our awesome kayaking guide, Marcus, taught us sea kayaking techniques.
We paddled to each of the little islets which are observable from Tofino and navigated around the vicinity. You will be able to tour the shorelines and inspect the little treasures more closely. Depending on the weather, speed and sea conditions, you might even be able to paddle to the outside of the sound and experience open sea kayaking. Wildlife includes seals, sea and river otters, porpoises, bald eagles and other marine species.
